Preserve Piranhas Swim Team!! Registration opens this Saturday 8am
Hello Piranhas Families!
It’s time to register for the 2021 summer swim season. Online registration will open this Saturday April 10th at 8am on the Piranhas website:
- For planning purposes, we ask that all families register promptly.
- Out-of-Neighborhood Swimmers:
As in prior seasons, registration for families who live outside of the
Preserve is encouraged, but the number of available roster spots will be
limited on a first-come, first-serve basis (returning families will have
priority while new swimmers are placed on a brief waitlist).
- Junior Piranhas: At this time, we will be preregistering for the Junior Piranhas program. Subject to headcount and requisite staffing, we will confirm directly with those who preregister.
- Volunteer Shifts: We are still working with the league and opposing teams to determine whether meets will be in-person or virtual (or some combination thereof). This determination may impact the number of volunteer shifts needed. As in prior years, parents will be required to volunteer for one shift per registered swimmer. We may have to adjust shifts/roles depending on the final meet format. We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we navigate everything. Note that with Covid-related capacity restrictions likely to remain through the summer, and parents and spectators limited on the pool deck during meets, on-deck volunteer shifts will become the coveted place to be!
- Covid restrictions: While the Covid landscape looks to be significantly improved from a year ago, public restrictions remain in effect and we will adapt our team operating guidelines in response to changes in those public guidelines.
Now Hiring Coaches: We are currently recruiting for two open coach positions. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age and have a competitive swim background. Coaching experience preferred. Please contact Coach Bryne to discuss further.
New for 2021 - Swimmingly App: As part of a league-wide transition, we are adopting a new team & meet management software/app, Swimmingly, for the 2021 season. "What does Swimmingly do? The Swimmingly app is an easy-to-use app that runs your entire swim meet. The Swimmingly Clubhouse is an easy-to-use website that runs your entire summer season (before and after each meet). Swimmingly shortens each of your swim meets by 30-90 minutes and reduces volunteers needed to run each meet. Swimmingly handles the actual operations of the swim meet–on the pool deck (timing system, DQ process, scoring, ribbon label printing)." Please peruse the Swimmingly website at your leisure to become familiar with its many contemporary features.
- App cost: There is an
additional fee of $10 per swimmer per season to register on and use the
Swimmingly app. This fee is additional to the regular Piranhas team
registration fee.
- Mandatory registration: Note that every Piranhas swimmer must register and pay the app fee directly on the Swimmingly app to be eligible to swim in RMSL meets this season. Please complete regular team registration first (this Saturday!), then wait to receive an email (within 1-2 weeks) advising when to register on Swimmingly.
- Note the 2021 Swimmingly
per-swimmer fee is an introductory rate and is expected to increase
gradually to $18 per swimmer over the next three seasons. The league is
approaching this season as a trial test for the system and will reassess
prior to the 2022 season.
- Included in the fee is the Swimmingly Fan app, which family members of registered swimmers can download to receive push notifications and view real-time, live meet information (heat sheets), progress and results. Read more about the app's features for parents/families here.
- Again, all Piranhas swimmers must register individually and pay the app fee directly on the Swimmingly app to be eligible to swim in meets this season. We appreciate the extra cost imposed by this transition but believe the enhanced meet experience will merit the increase.
