Hello Preserve Families,

I wanted to start off and congratulate all the swimmers that participated today. We had so many best times and awesome swims. We competed against teams twice and almost three times our size, staying within a 9 point margin for second. This was a huge deal, so congrats Piranhas!

However, we scratched many swimmers from their individual events and several important relays. These few races could’ve been the 9 points we needed. Not only does scratching your child’s place in a relay jeopardize the other swimmers’ chance in swimming, but it also can cost us the meet.

Myself, my coaches, and the Preserve Piranha Board have drafted up a remedy to this issue:

Relays will be created Thursday mornings after the registration deadline on Wednesday. If you do not reach out to me via text that your child is unavailable there is a possibility that they will be placed in a relay that may be forced to scratch. I will send an email out listing the relays Thursday by 8:45am. If I do not receive a text from you by noon, relays will be set.

Individual events may ONLY be scratched if there was an emergency, your child is ill, or there was a scheduling issue that may not be resolved. It is up to you, as a parent with the collaboration of your swimmer, to sign them up for events that they are comfortable with and willing to swim. Myself and the coaches are always willing to help and give recommendations personalized for your swimmer. We want to see each of them succeed, and that starts with being present and giving a helping hand when someone is hesitant to swim. Simply not wanting to swim brings down your swimmer and our entire team. From now on, if a swimmer wishes to be scratched on deck, THEY MUST COME TO THEIR AGE GROUP COACH who will meet with me and we will discuss it.
